Rhoda Elizabeth Caines, 86, died peacefully Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Northside Community Guest Home comforted by the wonderful staff in MacEachern Place.
Rhoda was born May 28, 1931 in Glace Bay to Harold and Esther Caines.
She began her working career at MacAulay’s Henry, later moving on to the Joy Supermarket, IGA, Louisburg Fish Plant and later returning to the IGA where she retired. Rhoda enjoyed playing cards, listening to country music and outings with her daughter. She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay.
Rhoda is survived by her loving daughter, Heather Petite (Richard); three grandchildren, Cori Lynn (Liam) Gallagher, Christopher Petite and Stephanie Gallant; two great-grandchildren, Keiren and Declan Gallagher; bothers, John and Jerry Caines; sister, Olive (Sam) Vokey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Esther Caines; sister, Shirley Dube and brothers, Billy, Leslie and Jimmy Caines.
A service will take place Thursday, November 9, 11 a.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
