It is with profound sadness and our deepest love that we announce the passing of our mother, Donna Kelly (Warburton), while surrounded by her loving daughters at Strathroy Hospital in Ontario on November 5, 2017
Donna was born in New Waterford on December 9, 1946. At the age of 18, she moved to Ontario were she married and raised a wonderful family.
Donna was an avid cook who made a career out of doing what she loved. She worked in the food industry at many establishments including Molson’s Brewery for 10 years and Golden Griddle for 7. Donna accomplished to build and run her own family restaurant, ‘Kelly’s’ for 5 years. In 1999, Donna retired to New Waterford, NS, but still continued to show her love of cooking with many meals for family and friends. Donna was also a member of the New Waterford Army and Navy women’s auxiliary.
Donna loved to travel and did so to many tropical paradises to enjoy the sun and sand. She also enjoyed playing the slots while visiting Vegas. She loved to travel back to Cape Breton to visit family, as she would always have a memorable time. She loved to be entertained and also to entertain others. She loved to dance, sing, and to play bingo and cards.
Donna will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Judy Wuytenburg (Rob), Michelle Moggach, Kim Kelly; and son, Todd Warburton. She will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mackenzie, Cody, Sarah, Gregory, Austin, Shane, Victoria, Ashley and Emma. Also missed by five brothers and sisters, Lucille Muise, Vonnie , Gordie (Sadie), Gary (Reggie) and Richard; sister-in-law, Colleen and Margie. Donna will be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, an uncle and friends.
Donna was predeceased by her husband, Austin; granddaughter, Victoria; parents, Regina (McLeod) and Gordon Warburton. Also by four brothers, Louis Richard in infancy, Eddie (2003), Brian (2011) and Jimmy (2017). She was also predeceased by maternal grandparents, Norman and Lucy (Tighe) McLeod; paternal grandparents, John James and Veronica (Petrie) Warburton; bothers-in-law, Bernie Muise and Fidel Gillis.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at Parish of St. Leonard in New Waterford, NS on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10 a.m.
Interment will be at St. James Cemetery, Gardiner Mines following the mass. A luncheon to celebrate Donna’s life will follow immediately after the mass at Parish of St. Leonard Hall in New Waterford, NS.
