The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 of Joyce Marie Fitzpatrick (nee Shepard) of Newport, age 77, beloved wife for 59 years of John Fitzpatrick. Loving mother of Ernie (Pam), Newport and Barry (Janet), Montague. Dear grandmother of Jason Fitzpatrick, Michael, Timothy and Adam Myers, and Chris Gillis (Daylene). Also survived by sister-in-law, Mary Fitzpatrick, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her son, Winston, her daughter, Darlene, and her daughter-in-law Joy. Joyce was the last surviving member of the late Frederick and Harriet Shepard’s family. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by brothers Sterling (in infancy), Tom (Florence and Margaret), Francis (Pauline), Heath (Pauline), Gerald (Ruth); sisters Phyllis (Murray) McQueen, Marjorie Shepard (Nathan Acorn); brothers-in-law Billy Fitzpatrick, Raymond Fitzpatrick, Louis Fitzpatrick, Ernie Fitzpatrick, George Fitzpatrick and sister-in-law Alice Poelzer (Rod). Resting at the Lounge at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, St. George’s for visitation on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 11 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. If desired, donations in Joyce’s memory to the St. George’s Cemetery Fund or the PEI Lung Association would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to North Shore Funeral Home.
