It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Martha Josephine “Molly” announces her passing on Monday, November 6, 2017.
Born on June 12, 1922 in Stanstead, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Frances (McGaffey) Laing.
Molly was an accomplished curler and a long-time member of the Sydney Curling Club. She spent many years as a Girl Guide commissioner in the Sydney area. One of Molly’s passions was knitting, something she liked to do while watching her favorite sports on TV. At the top of her sports list you’d find her rooting for her favorite sports team, the Montreal Canadiens. Molly was an avid reader, always making sure she had time set aside for a good book. In her later years, Molly loved spending her summers at the cottage where she enjoyed visits from her children and many grandchildren. Molly loved watching the hummingbirds while enjoying her coffee, on the deck. This made her day.
Molly is survived by her sons, Trevor (Lynne), Michael (Toni) and Frank Isherwood (Anne); daughters, Gayle Drillen (Philip), Nancy MacPhee (John) and Margaret ‘Bette’ Linden (Dennis); 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Molly was predeceased by her husband, Lawton Isherwood; an infant brother, Robert Laing; a brother, James Laing and a sister, Helen Blanton.
In keeping with Molly’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Orchard View LTC Home for their dedicated, compassionate care provided to our Mom over the last 6 years.
