It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Sandra Marie MacDougall, announce her passing at 4 North of the Glace Bay Hospital on November 25, 2017.
She was the daughter of the late Helen (Downing) and Charles MacDougall of Sydney. Sandy loved to sing and had a passion for old movies. Turner Classics was on her TV twenty-four hours a day. Sandy also enjoyed cooking, particularly obscure recipes, and spending hours searching down exotic ingredients.
A testament to Sandy’s motivation and determination is the fact that she earned four degrees--, a B.A. B.Ed. and two masters’ degrees, after the age of thirty. She started teaching in Guysborough County when she was forty and ended her career in Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia at the age of sixty-four. She chose Sydney to spend her retirement years, purchasing a home overlooking the ocean in South Bar. No doubt she is now basking in the presence of her favourite stars.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Dayna Enguehard, and her pride and joy, grandson, Nicholas Enguehard; her sisters, Karen (Bernard ) Lalanne, Pamela (Paul) Kennedy, and her favourite brother, Keith (Janice) MacDougall, and nieces and nephews, Danielle, Jeffrey, Paula, Charla, Kevin, Sandy and Lynden.
Thank you to all medical personnel who were a part of my mother’s care over the last five months.
