Ann Catherine (MacAdam) MACDOUGALL

Date de décès : 10 décembre 2017

Our hearts are filled with sadness as we announce the passing of Cathy on Sunday, December 10, 2017 surrounded by family at Glace Bay General Hospital after a noble and courageous battle with cancer.
Cathy was born in Glace Bay on March 26, 1963, the youngest of five children to the late Donald and Mary MacAdam (MacNeil). Cathy was a graduate of St. Michaels Senior High, St. F.X University and Laval University. During her career many lifelong friends were made while working for Air Canada, MTT Bell Aliant, Citizenship and Immigration, and finally with the finance department of the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board. Integrity and professionalism came naturally to Cathy, as she applied it daily throughout her career.
Spending leisure time in Christmas Island since she was a child was always a priority. Family gatherings for Christmas dinner, birthdays, Tipsy Chick night, and bonfires on the beach or in her back yard were always what mattered most. Her ever present smile and laugh, along with those beautiful blue eyes will be sorely missed by all of us who knew and loved her. I know you will guide all of us through our journey until we meet again.
Left to mourn are, her husband, Robert and children, Adam, Katie and Robyn; siblings, Donnie and Norma MacAdam, Colin MacAdam, Donalda and Dan Chauder, Kenneth and Danette MacAdam; aunts and uncle, Judy Morris, Catherine Mozzocca ,Theresa Price and Alex and Evelyn MacAdam, and special aunt and spiritual guardian, Sr. Lucy MacNeil; nieces and nephews, Mary Beth, Catherine and Daniel (Melissa) Chauder, Colin Francis and Colton MacAdam, John Kenneth and Michael MacAdam, Dale (Jill), Darren (Carla) and Dean (Tuesday) Burton, Chelsea, Cora Leigh and Erin Moriarty; mother-in-law, Hecky MacDougall, and in-laws, Janice Moriarty, Heather and Edward Burton and Tom Moriarty.
Cathy was predeceased by parents, Donald and Mary MacAdam; father-in-law, Frank MacDougall, and sister-in-law, Cindy MacAdam.
We would also like to thank those of you who sided with Cathy in her determined and dignified battle with cancer over the last three and half years; Dr. Stephanie Ellerker, Dr. Khododad, Dr. D’Intino, Dr. Abboud and Dr. Wajstaub, Cancer Center nurse Eleanor and Palliative Care nurses Wendy and Michelle Kelly, who went above and beyond for Cathy, Cancer Center nurses, Radiation Technicians, EHS, staff at both 4B Sydney and 3 East and 3 West in Glace Bay, thank you. We are truly blessed to have all of you a part of our community.
And finally, Cathy felt she was blessed to have two angels by her side, from the time she was diagnosed to her final days, her sister Donalda and sister-in-law Danette. Their determination, attention, humour, and genuine love for Cathy was inspirational. Thank you is simply not enough.
