DE BRUYNE - It is with much sorrow, the children of George De Bruyne announce his passing. Dad was born May 2, 1941, to Albert and Rose De Bruyne, and departed this life on August 3, 2009. Dad spent the largest part of his life on the family farm, west of Mankota, SK, in the Billimun District. He married Sharon Diebel March 5, 1964, and was blessed with seven children: Donna (Blake) Wiggins of Dalmeny, SK, Bonnie DeBruyne (Kieth Bloye) of Swift Current, SK, Mark De Bruyne of Nanoose Bay, BC, Tina Haye (special friend Bob Fallon) of Regina, SK, Greg (Randi) De Bruyne of McCord, SK, Patti (Kevin) Werschner of St. Paul, AB, Holly Owens of Lethbridge, AB; 16 very special grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way. Dad is survived by two sisters, Clara (Roland) Fauchon, Regina, SK, and Lisa (Aird) Romich, Swift Current, SK. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Rose De Bruyne. Dad was an avid hockey fan and loyal Lions Club member. He was a lifetime member of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association. He enjoyed his coin collection and his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Mankota Agricultural Hall, with Rev. Mathias Ross officiant. George’s daughter Bonnie De Bruyne shared the eulogy. Joan Stengler was the organist. Honorary pallbearers were all those in attendance. Active pallbearers were Louis La Rochelle, Roland Schafer, Lance La Fountain, Malcolm Haye, Eric Ellis and Cameron Ellis. Interment was held at Mankota Cemetery. Lunch and fellowship followed at the Mankota Agricultural Hall. Memorial tributes in George’s memory may be made to Epilepsy Canada 2255B Queen St E, Suite 336, Toronto, ON M4E 1G3.
