The Scott family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Joan Scott on December 14, 2017 at the age of 85.
Joan Cunningham (Dickson) Scott was born 10 January 1932 in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of James Willard Upham Dickson and Marguerite Belcher (Cunningham) Dickson.
Joan loved to sing – especially with her daughters – and had a very beautiful soprano voice. She studied music at Mount Allison University and was the soprano soloist at several churches. She was also very involved in the Girl Guide Movement and was for several years the provincial music trainer. She was active in the UCW group in Salisbury.
Joan enjoyed trailering with her husband Sandy and together they made several long trips across Canada and to Florida. She adored her cats.
Joan will be mourned by her children Lynda (Skip Mills) of Sackville, Sandi (Andy Jenkins) of Calgary, Chris of Moncton, and Heather (Laval Moreau) of Saint John. Joan also leaves 6 grandchildren: Chris (Jenna) and Kaelee Jenkins, Randy (Mariana) and Bruce Mills, Jessica and Justin Crossman and great grand daughter Brooklyn Mair. Besides her parents Joan was predeceased three weeks ago by her husband Sandy to whom she was married for 64 years, and by her sister Phyllis in 1978.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372-4800) from where the service will be held Monday, December 18th at 2pm with a reception to follow. Interment at Fernhill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
