Matthew Adam Whidden Dickie

DICKIE, Matthew Adam Whidden – 34, Truro, passed away peacefully, with his parents at his side, on Wednesday morning, December 20, 2017, at The Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of David and Karen (McCallum) Dickie. Matthew worked at Sobeys Warehouse and Truro Agromart Limited before being diagnosed with MS in 2007 which prevented him from working any longer. He enjoyed socializing, hunting and bass fishing with “the boys”. Last year, it was Matthew’s request to be baptized and family and close friends gathered as The Reverend Lori Ramsey shared this special occasion with them. Along with his parents, Matthew is survived by his son, Ethan Adam David Dickie, Bible Hill; brother, Jason Dickie, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ethan’s mother, Kaitlin Pitts (Nick Brown), Bible Hill; aunt, Gail (Colin) Hamilton, Greenfield; uncle, Tony (Gail) Dickie, Bible Hill; several cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Jackie Carde; paternal grandparents, Peter and Anna (Whidden) Dickie. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Bruce Phillips, staff of The Mira and Mike and staff of the MS Clinic in Halifax for all of your compassion and wonderful care over the years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Matthew’s family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017. Interment will be held in Onslow Island Cemetery at a later date. If so desired, donations in Matthew’s memory to The Mira Recreation Fund or to a charity of your choice for a local Truro organization are welcomed.
