CHUTE, Kenneth Allison
Mr. Kenneth Allison Chute of Edmonton, AB, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the age of 93, two weeks shy of his 94th birthday.
Ken was born to parents George Arnold and Lillian Myrtle Chute (nee Jefferson) in Bear River, NS. He grew up amongst six siblings, Dot, Marge, Myrtle, Alma, Lloyd and Harold, all of whom predeceased Ken.
In 1965, he married the love of his life Edith Mary Moulaison, and moved from Halifax, NS to Yarmouth, NS. In 1970, the family grew with the birth of their only son, Michael. Ken spent 23 years detailing vehicles for Motor Mart and renting cars with Avis Rent-a-Car in Yarmouth until his time of retirement in 1988. One of the highlights of his retirement was a trip Ken and Edith made from Yarmouth to Florida by car to visit family. Later, Ken became the primary caregiver for his wife as her health declined, and devoted every moment to her care.
After Edith’s passing in April 2010, Ken moved to Edmonton, AB to live with his son and daughter-in-law. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports. He eventually moved into an independent living facility, and looked forward to the weekly bingo games there.
Ken was a very proud individual and was always willing to help. He was disappointed when he could no longer clear the tables for tea service at his independent living facility. When help was extended to him (or someone gave a gift), his favourite response was, “What did you go and do that for?”
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his son Michael; daughter-in-law Andrea; and extended family members. He is also survived by granddaughter Laura.
Cremation has taken place and interment in Weymouth, NS will occur at a later date. The family is grateful for the condolences, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
