It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. On January 24, 2018, Trumon Marmon Smith passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 20, 1936 Bath, N.B. Marmon was the eldest son of the late Trumon B. and Edith M Smith of Upper Wicklow, Carlton Co., N.B.
In 1956 he worked with Foundation Maritime out of Halifax as a drill operator. Here he met the love of his life. This journey continued to Louisbourg where he built the home he loved and together the raised five children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 yrs., Margaret (MacGillivary) Smith; daughters, Debbie (Ronnie) Kennedy, Catalone, Nancy (Carl) Macleod, Louisbourg Patsy (Anthony) Thomas, New Glasgow; sons, Melvin (Cheryl), Sydney and Allan, Peace River, Alta.; brother, Claude (Carmen), Upper Wicklow, N.B and sister, Marion, Ft Myers, Florida;17 grandchildren,12 great- grandchildren and his little buddy, Chico.
He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Shorey, Moncton, N.B.
He retired after 35 years with Parks Canada. He was an active member of Louisbourg Fire Dept., and a chartered member of Louisbourg Lions club. An active member of Louisbourg Lighthouse Society and Louisbourg Heritage Society. Proprietor of the 1st. Louisbourg Lobster Kettle Restaurant, Havenside Rd. and Louisbourg Dollhouse Emporium. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, playing guitar and harmonica to country music, woodworking where he made many seagulls, dories, Louisbourg Lighthouses and bluenose boats and cheering on the Maple Leafs.
Visitation: Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 in 1st United church, Louisbourg
Celebration of Life: Monday, January 29, 2018 @ 11 a.m. Rev : Emily Duggan officiating
The family would like to thank the VON, Palliative Care and Doctors Anne Frances D’Intino and George Burns.
