Vince Mickey, longtime resident of Ingonish Beach, Cape Breton, N.S., passed away at home in Grande Prairie, Alta. on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the age of 48 years.
Vince was born on June 9, 1962 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was raised on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. He was employed at Knelson Rock Products in Grande Prairie. He enjoyed spending time around the fire pit with friends and family and listening to his music. Vince was looking forward to many rides on his new Harley.
He will be missed by his wife, Kim Lahey Mickey; son, Evan of Ingonish; special daughter, Tara Brushett (Wayne) of Grande Prairie; stepdaughter, Candace (Robert) of New Waterford, Cape Breton; mom, Selena MacKinnon (Neil) of New Waterford; brother, Tyrone (Betty Lou and family) of Ingonish; sister, Hope Cosgrove (Ted and family) of Grande Prairie; half brothers, Darcy and Aron of Sydney, Cape Breton and Chris (Melissa) of Newfoundland; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Brody, Bryce, Kassy and Kyara.
Vince was predeceased by his father, Christopher Mickey and his grandparents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 6 p.m. at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
A memorial service will be held in Cape Breton at a later date.
