Gordon Rutherford Moore

Moore, Gordon Rutherford, Truro passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with his family at his side. Gordon was born in Apohaqui, on May 18, 1930 and was the son of the late Annie Elizabeth McKnight and Alexander Clarke Moore. Gordon thoroughly enjoyed life, had a quick wit, and a love for storytelling. He took pride in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent time with them. Having such a passion for life, finding fun in all he did, Gordon will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Gordon started his career at A.L. Parlee & Son, Apohaqui, Dominion Stores Ltd., Truro and Liverpool, owner of Moore’s I.G.A., Truro, Kerr Controls Ltd, Truro, Mountain Golf and Country Club, East Mountain, Dave Wilson’s Ski Shop, Truro and Wentworth, served the Executive of Pony Club, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Session, Chairman of the Board of Stewards, Chairman of the Christian Education, Executive of Community Athletic Association, member of First United Church and one of the founders of Men’s Fellowship Group with help from his dear friend, Ed Lockhart. Gordon was a compassionate person and always finished one project before starting another and never gave up on the ‘Leafs’. Gramp enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren at various sports and leisurely activities.
Gordon leaves behind his loving wife Mary (Ward) of 67 years, children Heather (Peter) Robichaud, Dave (Jennifer) Moore, Cheryl (Tony) Orr; grandchildren Scott MacLean (Cyndi), Truro, Shawn MacLean (Cindy), Enfield, Nick MacLean, (Amanda) ¬¬Halifax, Ryan Moore (Emily), Edmonton, Tracy Moore, Victoria BC, Lauren (Adam) Moore, Toronto ON, Tamara (Kevin) Pearce, Red Deer, AB, André Robichaud (Tiffany), Truro; great grandchildren, Gracie, Zackary, Daniel, Bailey, Owen; sisters Kathleen Henry, Jean Smith, brother Jim (Donna), nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his brothers Stewart and Cecil Moore and grandson Brendon Orr.
Special thanks to nurses and doctors on 3D wing. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 3, from 6-8 at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, funeral services on Sunday, February 4 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating at First United Church, Truro. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Truro First United Church or Bible Hill Cemetery.
