Elizabeth ‘Betty’ passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, May 12, 2011, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Pembroke of Harbour Grace, age 62 years.
Born in Harbour Grace in 1949, Betty began her working career as a teacher in the secondary school system. But her real passion was the field of adult education; something that she excelled at and took great joy in. As the wife of an RCMP officer, she lived in many different places on the island, in Labrador, and in Ingonish, Cape Breton, touching the lives of many people in each of these localities. She and her loving husband Pat retired in Harbour Grace surrounded by her family that she loved so dearly.
Predeceased by first husband: Doug Hill; father: William Haire.
Leaving to mourn, husband, Pat; two sons, Christopher (Vivian), Corner Brook and Corey (Catherine), Toronto; four grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Rylan and Gabriel; mother, Mary Haire, Harbour Grace; four brothers, Patrick (Jean) Haire, Harbour Grace, Greg (Debbie) Haire, Harbour Grace South, William (Joanne) Haire, Ajax, Ont. and Steve (Michelle), Riverhead, Harbour Grace; three sisters, Alice (Jim) Parmiter and Florence Haire-Sutton, both of Harbour Grace and Marion Haire, Ajax, Ont.; also a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Resting at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace. Funeral mass to take place on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Cremation to follow. A private family inurnment to take place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
