Keith Robert Lovett

Keith Robert Lovett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Robert Lovett, age 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, on February 8, 2018, at the Northside Community Guest Home with his loving wife by his side. Keith was born in Montreal on April 4, 1927. He was the son of the late Harold and Etta May (Moore) Lovett. He moved to Kitchener-Waterloo when he was 19 years old and fell in love with the area. For 60 years he owned and operated Lovett’s Rod and Gun Centre in Kitchener until his retirement. He worked extremely hard his entire career and lived life on his terms, but was always there to support his family and friends. In true Cape Breton form, his inner compass guided him back to his roots, where he spent many summers before finally retiring to his little piece of heaven overlooking the Bras d’Or Lakes. He enjoyed spending time in Middle River and the Cape Breton Highlands, fishing, hunting and driving the four wheelers. Keith was an avid card player and attended many card games in the Bras d’Or area. Many will remember him as an avid emailer with a unique sense of humour. He met his bride, Eileen, at the Yacht Club in North Sydney and married a year later in 1958. They were a clear example of endless love and happiness. Keith is survived by his wife, Eileen Theresa (MacNeil) Lovett, by his daughter, Leanne (Michael) Arnold, Waterloo, ON, and his grandchildren, Meredith and Jacob Arnold. The family would like to give sincere thanks to Dee Clarkson, Mary Marsh, Martha Ferguson, Trish Dufour, the Victorian Order of Nurses and the wonderful and accommodating staff at the Northside Guest Home. Your kindness and generosity is truly appreciated. Keith’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. The Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating followed by a reception at the Bras d’Or Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.
