HAYES, Phyllis Anne – age 75, Tusket Falls, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born June 8, 1942 in Gavelton, she was a daughter of the late Milledge and Frances Nickerson. Phyllis possessed a strong love and devotion to her family, having not only raised her own children, but helped raise grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her husband, she loved watching them play hockey and dance and spent countless hours enjoying it. She was a naturalist at heart and her gardens, bird feeders and love for the Tusket River was passed along to the rest of her family. Every summer day she could be found sitting on the banks of the Tusket River or swimming in its cool dark waters. In later years, she found a passion for Tai Chi and practiced it twice a week with her sister Carol and many other lovely ladies at the Lake Vaughn fire hall. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alton Hayes and a brother, Milledge “Bub” Nickerson. She will be sadly missed by her children, Tracey Crosby, Lisa Hayes (Sean) and Troy Hayes (Christa), as well as by her grandchildren, Nicholas Boudreau (Tanya), Victoria Samson (Kenzie), Kennedy Hayes-Allen and Abbey Crosby; step-grandchildren, Matt Doucet and Twyla Doucet and great grandchildren, Isabella and Aurora Samson. Also surviving are her siblings, Paul Nickerson (Carol), Carol Jacquard (Gerald) and Don Nickerson as well as a special niece, Nicole Jacquard. In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth, and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to TREPA or to the Lake Vaughn Fire Department. The family would like to thank Dr. Green and Dr. Kim along with the staff on 3-South at the Yarmouth Hospital.
