Daniel, Joanne (nee McMillan)

It is with much sadness that the family of Joanne Daniel wish to announce her passing on February 18, 2018 following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Joanne was a great sister, a thoughtful daughter, a wonderful auntie and a treasured friend. She will be dearly missed.
Joanne was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 5, 1954, the oldest child of Douglas and Violet McMillan. She grew up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and moved to Edmonton, Alberta as a young adult where she would live the rest of her life. Joanne worked for 38 years at ATCO where she was a loyal and well-respected colleague and where she made many life-long friends. She was also a valued volunteer from its inception for Kathy’s Run for Pancreatic Cancer which was held in honour of a former colleague, Kathy McCollum. Over the years Joanne shared her home with many beloved dogs and cats. It was her love of animals which introduced her to many dog-walking buddies who became cherished friends.
Joanne is predeceased by her father Douglas McMillan and her brother-in-law Tom Walter. She is lovingly remembered by her mother Violet McMillan; siblings Bill McMillan, Laura Walter, Janie McMillan (Stan Pulsford), Steve McMillan (Laura); beloved nieces and nephews Chance, Claire, Anna, Sophie, Brett (Hannah), Erin (Marvin), Robyn (Shawn), Matt (Jocelyn), Jana (Justin), Chad (Sarah); and, many close friends including her besties Kathy, Avis, Sylvia, Karen and George, Barb, Shirley, Angie, Linda, Marianne, Lynn, Michelle, Anna, Donna, Brenda, Derek, Arlynn and Nancy and her adored furry companions Suri, Kenzie, Katy and Suzie. She was also a much-loved great-auntie to Gavin, Braydon, Joelle, Brooklyn and Madison. Joanne wanted to be remembered to the family of Kathy Rose. Kathy lived in Joanne’s care for a number of years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joanne may be made to the Sarcoma Cancer Foundation of Canada.
