Irene Frances Petryshen

Irene Frances Petryshen, beloved mother, partner, baba, sister, aunt and friend, passed away in Saskatoon on March 1, 2018 after a brief but intense battle with pancreatic cancer. Irene was born in Prince Albert, SK on November 26, 1952. She was the fourth of six kids born to Pauline and Michael Petryshen. Born into a Catholic family, she attended St. Mark’s Elementary School and Academy Presentation of Mary and graduated from Riverside High School. While working at the Co-Op she met Craig Fisher, her husband of 17 years and the father of her two children. During this time, Irene, Craig and their kids relocated to Armstrong, BC for five years where they grew strawberries on their acreage. Irene took motherhood and wifehood very seriously and enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking for her family. She was a fierce supporter of her kids - encouraging her son to pursue drumming, her daughter to pursue figure skating and both of them completed university degrees. She attended Saskatoon Business College, where she acquired a Business Administration Diploma. In her early 40s, Irene was inspired to move to Toronto, ON and start a new life. After five years in Toronto, she relocated to Saskatoon and became a self-employed bookkeeper taking on a variety of clients until her passing. Irene received her Prairie Horticultural Certificate in 2010. She was most proud of this accomplishment. In 2008, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Allan Reding. Irene and Al’s love of each other was clear to anyone who knew them. Irene and Al enjoyed motorcycle trips, vacations in Hawaii and Arizona, and visiting family and friends. Al made the last 10 years of her life very special. She was predeceased by her parents Pauline and Michael, her brother-in-law Pete Pronych, her sister-in-law Joanne McLeod, and her niece Cindy Pronych. Irene is survived by the love of her life Allan Reding, her daughter Shannon Fisher (Danny Luesink), her son Adrian Fisher (Dawna), Al’s daughters Kerrie Nakoneshny (Reg), and Jenny Woloschuk (James), beloved grandchildren Helaina, Jarett, Faith, Clara, Harrison, and Matthew, her sister Pollyann Sereda (Doug), sister Mary Pronych, sister Geri Lennon (Trevor), brother Mike Petryshen (Ellen) brother Andy Petryshen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irene’s family is deeply grateful to St. Paul’s Hospital, who provided her and her family with wonderful care and compassionate support during the final weeks of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Please consider being an organ donor in memory of Irene. The Funeral Service will be held at Circle Drive Alliance Church (3035 Preston Ave. S.) in Saskatoon on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Potluck supper and singing to follow at the Vanscoy Circle Hall at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200 www.mourningglory.ca
