Resident of Labrador City, passed away on March 15, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Gordon is survived by his honey Clemmie, number one son Karl and number one daughter Susan. He is also survived by his siblings Liz Keating (Francis), Dianne Stamp (Jimmy), Jack Parsons (Marg), Francis Parsons (Colette), Keith Parsons (Dianne), Gary Parsons (Trudy), Aiden Parsons, Margie Morey (Wayne), Linda Oldford (Tom), Teddy Parsons (Dianne) and Mary Parsons. Gordon is predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary (Everson) Parsons and brothers Doug Parsons (Marilyn) and Eddie Parsons (Terri). Gordon was born a Newfoundlander and adopted by Canada in 1949. He was born in St. John's and educated in both Flatrock and St. John's. He moved from his hometown of Flatrock to Goose Bay in 1963, where he worked for the United States Air Force for ten years. In 1966, he met and married Clemmie Clarke. They later moved to Happy Valley where their first child, Karl, was born in 1967. In 1973, the family moved to Labrador City where Gordon began working for the Alesco Supplies & Printing. Gordon worked for, owned and was associated with the Aurora newspaper until 2004. In 1974, Gordon and Clemmie welcomed their daughter Susan into the world. Karl currently resides in Labrador City and Susan in Fredericton. Gordon's interests were vast and included reading, photography, CB and ham radio, pistol shooting, hunting, birdwatching, geocaching and, to a lesser degree, fishing. He also had a passing interest in prospecting, naturism, hiking, aromatherapy, woodworking and machining. In later years, computers and the internet played a significant part in his life, as did church and walking until arthritis took its toll. An extensive traveler, he died poor in money but rich in experience, having visited all 10 provinces, 39 states, Mexico and Cuba. His lifestyle underwent a major shift when, at the age of 54 and weighing 350 lbs, he had a heart attack and required four bypasses. Two years later, he weighed 250 lbs, was very active and established a near-vegetarian diet. Memberships have included the Camera Club, Toastmasters, the Knights of Columbus, the Labrador West Chamber of Commerce, Mensa, the North Star Rod and Gun Club, the Labrador Heritage Society, the Labrador Trap and Skeet Club, the Caribou Club, ham radio clubs, S.O.A.R and other related national groups. Gordon loved the Labrador land and it's wildlife, especially birds, but most of all, it's people. He will be mourned by all those who knew him. He is a legend of Labrador, it has been said.
