Ronald Ross Cormier

The family of Ronald Ross Cormier, age 87, of Amherst are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan.
Born in Amherst, he was the son of the late Helena (Cormier) Thibodeau.
Ron worked for Christie’s Trunk and Baggage in his earlier years and later for the Town of Amherst and Enamel Heating in Amherst. He served overseas in the Korean Conflict and also worked in Dorchester and Springhill Penitentiary. Ron was a member of the Amherst Lions Club for 30 years and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10.
He is survived by his wife the former Rose VanSnick, stepson and best friend, John Burbine, Amherst, stepsons, Wayne Burbine and Eugene (Louise) Burbine both of Brantford Ontario, and stepdaughter Patti (Wayne) Balzereit also of Brantford.
Ron was the last surviving member of his family and was predeceased by sisters Dora Smith and Evelyn Wood and brothers, Leon “Bubbles”, Alfred and Jude “Sam”, and stepdaughter Darlene Eagles.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, from 2 – 3 pm, with Last Post Service held at 2:30, followed by the service at 3 pm, with Rev. Evan Oxner officiating, all held in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Amherst Wesleyan Church.
