It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Norman Currie announces his passing on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 80 years. Maxwell was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Currie. He leaves to mourn his family, sons David (Angela) Currie, Burgeo, NL, Lloyd (Jennifer) Currie, Dartmouth, NS, Calvin (Rhonda) Currie, Saint John, NB, daughters Ruby (Willard) Payne, Zama City, AB, Maxine Currie, SK, Diane (John) Collier, Scarborough ON, Madonna (Derek) Kettle Codroy Valley, NL Kay Currie (Jim) Port aux Basques, NL, Judy (Tony) Merrigan, St. John’s NL and Tracy Spencer (Paul), Port aux Basques, NL, grandchildren and great grandchildren, care giver and friend Christine Lomond, Port aux Basques, NL, as well as a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa Mary Currie, daughter Patsy, son Nelson and sister Esther. Visitation took place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Basques on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held on Monday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Hannah Dicks officiating. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hills. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home.
