Marilyn (Mayne) Hudson

Marilyn (Mayne) Hudson, age 69, passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side at the Vernon Hospice after a long battle with Parkinson’s + Lewy body dementia on April 15, 2018. She was born in Summerside, March 10, 1949 to Allison and Grace Mayne. She joins in heaven her parents and her sister Shirley Bradshaw. She was a beloved wife, mother, foster-mother, and grandmother. She grew up in P.E.I. where she became Registered nurse. She met the love of her life, Pat Hudson on a blind date. They went dancing, a dance that continued for the rest of their time together. The couple were married and through their jobs lived in Halifax, Alberta and Germany. They eventually settled near to Marilyn’s parents on the Island where they raised three daughters. They stayed in close contact with Marilyn’s many relatives even after moving to BC in 1993 to be close to Pat’s parents. They settled in Armstrong and were an integral part of the community there. Marilyn was known for her selfless devotion to family, choosing to leave nursing to raise her family. Later in BC the couple fostered numerous children. Many children found acceptance and love in their home over the years. Angel, Stuart, Lloyd, Tiffany, Crystal, and Randy will miss Marilyn dearly as she raised them as her own. She was an active member the Zion United Church, volunteering at Camp MacKenzie. Marilyn, together with her husband, was recognized by the community of Armstrong as citizens of the year in 2009. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, quilting, Knitting, Fishing, camping, and visiting family and friends. She leaves behind her husband Pat. She will be missed by daughter; Shannon Plamondon (Chris), Lenora Lindsay (Dennis), and Patti Montgomery (Eli) as well as 7 grandchildren Tommy, Allison, Luka, Noelle, Mikayla, Evan, and Isaiah and siblings Alene Carr (Denzil deceased Nov. 1993), William Mayne (Beverley), and Margret Mayne-Bennett (Brian), and numerous Nieces & Nephews. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to; April is Parkinson’s awareness month and donations to the Parkinson’s Society BC, or to Camp Mackenzie or to a charity of your own choosing, would be appreciated. The family would like to express sincere gratitude and thanks to the Doctors & Nurses of Vernon Jubilee Hospital, and to Dr. Reta Kutsche & team of the Haugen Medical Group, as well as the wonderful caring, staff & Volunteers at North Okanagan Hospice Society. The tender loving care & their dedication to Marilyn and her family was & is greatly appreciated. Celebration of Marilyn’s life is planned for June 10, 2018, 2 p.m. at Zion United Church, a Tea & social to follow at Zion Church Hall Armstrong BC.
