Janis Lettues

Lieu de naissance : Halifax, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

Lieu de décès : Halifax, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 20 avril 2018

Age 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with her loving son, Randy, by her side.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred “Bill” T. and Leola R. Stanbrook. Janis is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, William “Bill” Lettues.
She is survived by her son, Randy (Krista); grandchildren, Adam and Jenna of BC; sisters, June (Dennis) Long of BC, Sylvia (Chris) Rippel of BC, Teresa (Gary) Finegan of California; brother, Thomas (Betty) Stanbrook of BC; as well as many nieces and nephews living in Canada and the U.S.
Many “North Siders”, those of North Sydney, will remember Janis from the former Zellers store, where she worked in customer service for 30 years. Over the years, Janis enjoyed playing darts and bowling and learning to line dance, laughing with old friends and making new ones along the way. In the summer evenings, though, there was nothing that delighted her more than sitting around a bonfire sharing laughs with her friends and family at MacKinnon’s Campground at Lake Ainslie.
Janis always said that she felt younger than her years, and she was a shining example that age is just a number. Last year, she travelled more than ever, visiting her son and family in BC, ziplining in California on her 69th birthday with her sister Terry and exploring much of Nova Scotia with her cherished friend Jim Sherret. We will miss her adventurous spirit and her infectious smile and giggles.
Her family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria General Hospital for providing Janis with the most professional and compassionate care. Thank you to the friends and family who visited, sent flowers and talked or texted with Janis while she was in the hospital. She always appreciated hearing from you. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jim Sherret for visiting Janis every day throughout her illness and bringing a sparkle to her eye whenever he entered the room.
At Janis’ request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Cole Harbour Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a hospital or charity that is closest to your heart.
