Muise, Ernest John, “Ernie” 74, Truro, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with his family by his side. Born in Halifax, NS, he was a son of the late Ernest and Mary (MacCormack) Muise. Ernie worked for International Nickel in Sudbury, ON, and later moved back to Nova Scotia where he worked as a forklift operator for the CIL Plant, later known as the Truro Agromart Ltd. in Upper Onslow. He was an avid hunter and a fisherman. In his younger years, Ernie always loved to tear up the dance floor at the Debert Legion, and also had great passion for his Ford Ranger. Ernie was a great family man who loved the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Edith (Rushton) Muise; daughter Colleen Hatfield of Bible Hill; sons, Jason Muise and John Muise, both of Sudbury, ON, Greg Barkhouse (Crystal) of Bible Hill; grandchildren Laura Hatfield, Cassidy Barkhouse, Caitlyn Barkhouse, and 4 grandchildren in Sudbury, ON; brothers, Arthur (Barb), Alfred (Shirley), Norman (Darlene), Greg (Colleen), Robert; sisters, Gail Wilson (David), Margaret Shearer, Bonnie Staples (Keith), Debra Rushton, Donna Shearer (Eric), Denise Nichols (Barry), Janet MacFadden (Tony); several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Paul and David; sisters, Betty and Diane in infancy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation by family request. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 5th at 4 pm in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village with Reverend Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Donations in Ernie’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
