BLADES, Pauline M. – age 90, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born October 11, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Sarah (Doucette) O’Connell. Pauline spent many years caring for residents at Villa St-Joseph. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, Branch No. 61, Yarmouth, where she was also a member of the choir. Pauline enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She is survived by her children, Sharon Hanf LeBlanc (Jim), Loran Blades (Lynn), John Blades (Denise) and Kimberly Blades (Craig), as well as by a daughter-in-law, Linda Peterson Blades; grandchildren Scott Hanf (Caremen), Corey Hanf (Carla), Christine Blades (Shawn), Angela Malone (Shannon), Jennifer Blades (Dawson), Sarah Blades (Marc), Heather Blades and Austin Lafave; great grandchildren, Josie Hanf, Tiffany Hanf, Rowan Hanf, Seth Hanf, Tyler Blades, Blake Malone, Caleum Hines, Jorgia Malone, Addison Blades, Adaline Dulong; great-great grandchildren, Blaise and Adley. Also surviving are a brother, Clifford O’Connell and a sister, Jean Lockart (Howard), as well as many nieces and nephews and special friend, Lovitte LeBlanc. Aside from her parents, Guy and Sarah, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Blades; a son, David Blades and a grandson, Kirk Hanf. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday with a Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Service at 7:30, followed by prayers at 8 p.m., all at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 8 from Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory of Pauline may be made to a charity of your choice.
