Trenton - Evelyn MacLeod, age 78 passed away peacefully on May 2, 2018 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her husband, John McLeod; daughter, Donna Fraser and sister, Anita Cunningham. Evelyn was born in New Glasgow on January 13, 1940 to Harold and Ann Fraser.
She spent all her life in or around New Glasgow where she built a life with her children. While her health permitted, she was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29 in Trenton, Nova Scotia where she often volunteered her time as needed. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, bingo, going to dances with John and spending time with family and friends, especially her granddaughter Angela.
Evelyn will be remembered for her quick wit, quick temper and funny sayings that would perfectly fit the situation such as “You might as well save your breath to cool your soup” which she would use when she thought someone was not listening to her. She loved to laugh and tell funny stories often embellishing them to get more laughs.
The last few years of her life were a struggle for Evelyn due to poor health however, friends and neighbors helped to make things more comfortable especially Elwood MacDonald whom helped to ease the burdens of her day to day needs as she became increasingly ill and home bound. Jim and Dawn Hayman were also a great source of comfort and care for Evelyn for many years.
