Viola Mary Lough
Dec 16, 1930 – May 24, 2018
Vi Lough passed away peacefully on May 24, 2018, at the age of 87 with her family by her side in Calgary, Alberta. Mom was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to parents Malcom and Mary Campbell. Her mother passed away early in her childhood and Vi was raised by her sister Ollie. Vi was married to Gilbert (Gibby) Lough on October 30, 1954 and they loved life, enjoyed camping and traveling through Saskatchewan lakes and beloved Rocky Mountains. Vi and Gibby had four children they loved dearly – they were the pride and joy of their lives. Vi was Director of Admitting at the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Alberta until her retirement in 1988. She passed away 30 years to the day of Gibby’s passing and reminisced about him daily. Vi loved painting, sewing, baking, gardening, cross-stitching and loved listening to music. She volunteered throughout her children’s school lives creating backdrops for many school musicals and was well known for her expert homemade Halloween costumes and birthday cakes. Vi is survived by her family whom she loved dearly, her children: Alison (Camiel), Patti (Perry), Gerry, Bonnie (Colin); her grandchildren: Adam, Amy, Bradley (Courtney), Reaghan, Scot and Gabriel. Gerry’s frequent visits gave mom extreme joy, especially when he brought her Tim Horton’s coffee and played Amazing Grace on his guitar. Time spent with her grandchildren included teaching them the joy of games and family. Laughter was part of every family gathering. Even through declining health in her final years, Mom enjoyed the simple things that made life fun. A Service of Remembrance will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 – 1:30 pm at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St E, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens with Mom being laid to rest beside her beloved Gibby. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, 301 - 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or at http://alzheimer.ca. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium – Shellbrook Funeral Home. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Funeral Directors. www.MacKenzieChapel.ca 306.763.8488
