It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ethel Chaisson (nee Hibbs) announces her passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Monday, May 28th, 2018 at the age of 87 years. Born in St. Andrew's, NL. Ethel was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Hibbs (nee Knowling). She was also predeceased by her husband Michael Joseph Chaisson in 2012; father and mother-in-law Simon and Margaret Chaisson (nee Gale); infant son; brothers Samuel (Veronica) Hibbs, George Hibbs, Reg Hibbs, William Hibbs, Kenneth Hibbs; sisters Anne (Tom) Lewis, Lucy Smith, Marcella Hibbs; sisters-in-law Mary (Albert) McNeil and Agnes Zelch. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her fourteen children, Robert Chaisson of Port aux Basques, NL, Margaret (Bruce) Langdon of Calgary, AB, Susan (Jim) Anderson of Cape Ray, NL, Lucy (Ted) Wall of Tompkins, NL, Richard (Judy) Chaission of Upper Ferry, NL, Gerald (Donna) Chaission of Searston, NL, Josephine (Michael) Whaley of North Carolina, USA, Roslyn (Allan) Haley of South Rawdon, NS, Michael Jr Chaisson of Searston, NL, Agnes Organ of St. John's, NL, Frances (Rolf) Doerr of Kitchener, Ont, Carol (Paul) Howell both of St. John's, NL, Kenneth (Maxine) Chaission of Tumbler Ridge, BC, Bruce Chaisson of Newmarket, Ont; brother Gordon (Ann) Hibbs of St. Andrew's, NL; sister Susan (John) Lowther of Oromocto, NB; sisters-in-law Shelia Hibbs of Upper Ferry, NL, Christina Hibbs of Stephenville, NL, Lorraine Hibbs of St. Andrew's, NL; brother-in-law Richard Zecth of Oregon, USA; special caregiver Rosanne O'Regan many grandchildren, great-grandchildren plus a large circle of nieces and nephews. In keeping with Ethel's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 30th from 2-4 pm and a wake service took place from 7-9 pm at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry, NL from where the Mass of Christian Burial took place on Thursday, May 31st at 11 am officiated by Father Lee Lainey interment followed at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Searston, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Ethel's memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
