MACDUFF, Alice “Eileen” It is with great sadness that the family of Alice “Eileen” MacDuff announces her passing on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born in Brookvale on July 4, 1922 she was the eldest child of the late Arthur and Mary Ellen (Reid) Daye.
Eileen spent many years living, working and raising her family in Lunenburg. She was a member of the Central United Church UCW, the curling club, golf club and many other community organizations, volunteering her time whenever she could. She and her husband Jim moved to Windsor in 1992 where she continued her involvement with the UCW at Windsor United Church. She was an avid reader, knitter and bridge player wherever she lived. She enjoyed years of friendship with many members of both communities. Eileen’s family was the thing she was most proud of. She loved to cook, bake and knit for them all. At the family cottage Eileen, “Grandmum”, provided a loving place for all to spend time together, often many generations at the same time. She was truly the heart of her family and well loved by all whose lives she touched. Eileen is survived by her daughters, Jamesie Mayo, Lunenburg; Mary Jayne Tilley, Falmouth; sons, Reid (Roslyn) MacDuff, Windsor; Jack (Janet) MacDuff, Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Todd (Krista) Mayo, Tracy Lee (Todd) Rose, Coco (Sean) Strowbridge, Glen (Mong Diep) MacDuff, Blair (Tamara) MacDuff, James MacDuff, Katherine (Daniel) Yacoub, Alison (Jamie) Clarke, Brinley (Melissa) Tilley, Matthew Tilley, and Keelin Tilley; great-grandchildren, Max, Jack, Nic, Cameron, Kenzie, Kirsty, Ewan, Keira, Alec, Ava, Jacob, Ellis, Reid and Blair. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Jim; brother, Garnet Daye; sisters, Gloria Ferguson and Roberta Maxine Daye; son-in-law, Bob Mayo. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A celebration of Eileen's life will be held at Windsor United Church, 613 King St. on Wednesday, June 6 at 3 p.m. with Rev. David Hann officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church annex with interment at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Eileen may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Atlantic Division, 109 Ilsley Ave #1, Dartmouth, NS B3B 1S8, Windsor United Church, PO Box 2037, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 or a charity of choice.
