COALBURN, Pictou Co. – Calvin William Cameron, age 88 of Coalburn, passed away on Thursday, June 28th, 2018, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in MacPherson’s Mills he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret (Miller) Cameron.
Calvin worked for 35 years in various coal mines, including the Greenwood, the MacBean and the Allan Shaft. Calvin’s greatest joy in life was his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Maude Catherine Morrison, son, Robert (Karen) Cameron of Thorburn, daughter, Catherine Ann (Allen) Stroud of Foster Ave., brothers, Lawrence and Morris of Ont., grandchildren, Robin Curtis, Laura Keough, Justin Cameron and Jana Cameron, step-grandsons, Tyson and Sean Duggan, great-grandchildren, Marcus, Aiden, Austin, Chloe, Calvin, Hunter and Madelyn, several nieces and nephews, chosen daughter, Alice Connors.
Calvin was predeceased by brothers, Nyles, Roy, Bernie, Lyons, and sisters, Mary, Melva, Katherine and Ida.
His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home for Visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the MacPherson’s Mills Cemetery. Donations in memory of Calvin may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
