Margaret ‘Peggy’ Irene MCKINNON

It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, nana, great-grandmother, sister and aunt at the Northside General Hospital on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Born in Sydney, Peggy was the daughter of the late Lauchlin and Mary Margaret (MacDonald) MacDonald.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie (Mike) Britten; her grandchildren, Shaun (Carla), Ashley (Zubin) and Christopher; her great-grandchildren, Ben and Jake; sister, Pearl O’Connell, and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Duncan; sisters, Mary Catherine, Elizabeth, Annie DeCoste and Carmel Slade; her brothers, Colin and Donald, and brothers-in-law, Joseph O’Connell, George Slade and John DeCoste.
At Peggy’s request, funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Chant’s Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 25 at 11 a.m.
Special thanks to Dr. Kohlsmith, the nurses of 2 West and the staff of Miners Memorial Manor for their compassionate care and kindness.
Donations in memory of Peggy can be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital or a charity of choice.
