James Bernard Poirier

James Bernard Poirier

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Jimmy on July 1, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. He grew up in Dominion and was the son of the late Cyril and Bridget Poirier. Jimmy resided in Sydney where he enjoyed a large community of friends. He worked at the Best of Cape Breton Crafts and Print Shop for many years. He took an active part in the Special Olympics where he won many medals. Jimmy was also taking piano lessons and had a special fondness for his teacher, Flo Sampson.
An avid Screaming Eagles fan, Jimmy made sure he had all his tickets for their home games.
Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Bridget Musial, Dominion, Rita McNamara (Steve Jessome), New Victoria Paulette Poirier, Reserve Mines, and Coleen Sponagle, Glace Bay; brothers, George and John D. (Brenda), Dominion, and Cyril Jr. Bridgeport, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Morris Musial.
Donations may be sent to the Breton Ability Center or to a charity of choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Breton Ability Center for all their care and kindness you have given to Jimmy over the years. A special thank you to John D. for his undivided attention to Jimmy through the years.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. at the T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS 902-849-4199
