With her beloved son R. Magnus Nesbitt Friis by her side, Eleanor passed away from complications of MS on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Pleasantview Towers LTC in St. John's NL. Thank you to the many Newfoundlanders who cared for her so gently. Eleanor was the adored daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth and Herbert H.J. Nesbitt of Ottawa, Ontario. She will be dearly missed by Magnus and his partner Maliheh, by her brothers Thos (Vancouver), David (Unionville) and Rob (Ottawa), as well her sisters-in-law Susan, Deborah and Deanna, her nephews and nieces, her Brady cousins and her many friends in St. John’s, Ottawa and Toronto. Eleanor’s generosity of spirit and of sharing what little she had (including recipes) with others, her indomitable spirit and wry sense of humour which survived despite many years of challenging and declining health, and her brave, independent and always-optimistic mind, made her truly remarkable. Eleanor taught English, worked as the technical editor for C-CORE at MUN and loved cats, Shakespeare, Tolkien and dragons. We will cherish her memory always.
