Regina ‘Reggie’ (Dimskis) Warburton

Regina ‘Reggie’ (Dimskis) Warburton

Date de décès : 24 juillet 2018

It is with saddened hearts and our deepest love that we announce the sudden passing of Reggie Warburton, on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney while surrounded by her loving family.
Reggie was born in Ontario on March 16, 1952. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Dimskis.
She was married in Ontario where she raised her three children. Reggie worked as a seamstress alongside her mother and was a factory worker at a car parts manufacturer. Most of her working experience was as a wonderful cook. She cooked at Versa Foods in Ontario for a number of years. Once moving to New Waterford in 1993, Reggie retired, but still opened a take-out restaurant named “The Pantry”. Reggie loved to play in dart leagues with family and friends at the Heather and St. Mike’s.
Reggie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a true family woman who was the centre of her household. She loved to entertain, do crafts and play cards and darts with family and friends. She was kind- hearted and compassionate, a true animal lover and would talk the ear off anyone.
Everyone always loved that Reggie was gullible and scared easily. She was often the brunt of the joke, which she took with pleasure. She loved to go camping in Sangaree and although she hibernated throughout the winter, her absolute favourite time of year was Christmas with her family.
Reggie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gary; children, Gordie (Annelise), Nancy (Mike) Bennett, Gary Jr., and grandson, Garret. She will be missed by her sister, Christine (Dave) Birch and family, and her step-mother, Vinse. She will be forever remembered by her large family of in-laws, Lucille, Vonnie, Gordie, Sadie, Richard, Colleen, Margie, Todd and families.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Algie; father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Regina, brothers-in-law, Eddie, Brian, Jimmy, Bernie, Fidel and Austin, and sister-in-law, Donna.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 9 a.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
A Funeral Mass of celebration will take place on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard Church, Mount Carmel Ave., New Waterford, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15, 3472 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, immediately following the Funeral Mass.
Donations in Reggie’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us the strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us in one way or another,
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.
For all of us, you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
