Vera Stapleton
We, the family of Vera Martha Kathlyn (MacDonald) Stapleton, regret to announce her passing on Saturday, July 28, 2018.
Born March 23, 1960, in Petawawa, Ont., she was the daughter of Helga (Bürger) MacDonald and the late Chester A. MacDonald.
For over 35 years, Vera was a very active member of CID, Community Involvement of the Disabled, where she served as president for three terms. She also volunteered as executive secretary for NSLEO, a position she held for four years. Vera volunteered with Crime Stoppers and was also a board member with the Nova Scotia League for Equal Opportunities, as well as the Society for the Improvement of Accessible Transportation. Anyone who knew or had the opportunity to meet and work with Vera will attest to her kind, generous and thoughtful nature and her willingness to do whatever she could to help others, as well as set an example. Besides her mother, Vera is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Michael and brother, Roland (Bea).
She was predeceased by her brother, Daniel; stepsister, Nancy Jean and stepbrother, Chester. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 2 from 1-2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with Mr. Gary Grant officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the SPCA or any charity in support of animals.
