It is with profound sadness that the family of Janet Canning announce her passing on July 31, 2018, at the Halifax Infirmary. Janet was born on August 19, 1949 in Montague, Prince Edward Island. She was the daughter of Edith (Baker) and the late Wallace MacDonald. Janet is survived by her husband Carl; children, Pamela (Jacques) Boisvert, Ottawa; Robert (Kelly) Canning, Antigonish; mother, Edith MacDonald, Belfast, P.E.I.; sister, Marie (Ralph) Fraser, Calgary; brother, Robert (Barb) MacDonald, Charlottetown. Mourning their beloved Nana are Janet’s grandchildren, Joshua (Kayla) Boisvert, Elijah Boisvert, Aidan Canning, Elise Canning, Mairin Canning, and Bryn Canning. Her grandchildren were an immense source of pride and Nana proudly cheered them on through their various sports, activities, and milestones. They will miss her unwavering support, delicious meals, card games, and, of course, her easy hugs and kisses. Janet’s work ethic was unmatched. She worked as a waitress while helping Carl through dental school, then joined him in his dental practice. She was employed for many years in Halifax as a personal care assistant where she bestowed upon her clients the same nurturing care that she lavished on her family. Following her retirement, Janet loved spending time at the family cottage in Caribou, N.S., where she doted on visiting family and friends. Janet's primary interest was showering her family with love and food. Visitation will be held at C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will beTuesday, August 7, 2018 in the funeral home at 10 a.m., Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding.
