It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alva Marie Noseworthy nee Cook announce her passing at her private residents in Stephenville, NL on August 5, 2018 at 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Marie (Joe) in Kippens, Alice (Narcis) in Aguathuna, Debbie (Eric) in Stephenville, Mary (Norm) in Ontario, Roxanne (Grant) in Ontario, Wallace (Charlene) in Ottawa, Robert (Sherry) in St. John’s, sister Thelma (Herman) in Ontario, 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a circle of nieces and nephews and her special friend Toni Doucette. Alva will forever be remembered for her famous Christmas Eve cabbage roll feast and the endless supply of snowballs and freezies she kept on hand for her grandchildren. She loved her many Bingo games with her daughter Debbie, card games, the senior dances, the soaps, her radio and watching hockey. She was predeceased by her parents William and Mary Cook, husband James Noseworthy, daughters: Teresa, Cecilia, sisters: Cecilia, Della, Theresa, Marie, her brothers: William and Leo and a group of very special friends: Haddie, Irene, Lolly, Yvonne and Mary. Visitation will take place at Russell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Funeral service will take place 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Au Port West, NL on Thursday, August 9, 2018 with Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Port Au Port East. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of Mercy Restoration Fund in memory of Alva. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Alva’s nurse Elizabeth Lomond and her doctor Scott Lamswood. A special thank you is also extended to her caregivers through the years: Jenita Alyward, Lorraine Duffy, Tammy Flemming, Mary McCormack and Linda Hodder.
