Allister MacDonald
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, H. Allister MacDonald, who passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in Glace Bay. Born in Glace Bay, Allister spent his early years in Catalone before moving to Glace Bay. He is survived by his wife, Effie (MacDonald). Allister was predeceased by his parents, Hugh A. and Agnes MacDonald; sisters, Eileen MacDonald and Chris Lang.
Allister was first employed at the Bank of Montreal and later as a dispatcher for Devco Railway. Allister was a graduate of Glace Bay High and St. Francis Xavier University with a BBA. Degree. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay, where he served on Session, the Board of Managers, the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee. Visitation will take place at St. Paul’s Church, 268 Brookside St., Glace Bay on Friday, August 10 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will take place at St. Paul’s at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 with burial following at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Patten Funeral Home with Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Church, the VON or the Alzheimer’s Society.
