John G. Garland
We are saddened to announce the passing of John Garland, 72, on July 31, 2018, at his home in Toronto. Born in Baddeck, N.S., he was the son of the late George and Sarah (MacLean) Garland. He is survived by his brother Ewen MacLean, Baddeck; sisters Marion Phillips, Reta (Charlie) Cook, Baddeck and Hilda Pardoe, Bucklaw and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his partner Lillian Collette, brothers Billy and Jim, sister Sally, sisters-in-law Katherine MacLean, Kay Garland; brothers-in-law Herman Phillips, Lawrence Pardoe and William MacDonald; nephews Wally Garland and Daryl Phillips.
The family would like to thank Phyllus Fitzgerald, of Toronto, for her continuous support. It was greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck. At John's request, there was no visitation or funeral. A private family service has taken place at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Corrie Stewart officiating. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke or Canadian Cancer Foundation.
