Donald Debison

Date de naissance : 7 juin 1932

Lieu de décès : Glace Bay
Date de décès : 17 août 2018

Dan "Da, Buck, pops" left us peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital with his family by his side. Da was counting the days to be reunited with his Katie-Lou, Karen-Ann & Concillio-Marie (infant). By the grace of our Catholic faith there is an angel standing guard on each of their graves. We humbly ask you to pray for their souls and all souls, especially those who have no one to pray for them. There was rarely a moment there was not a Holy Rosary in the hands of Dad & Mom. Da carried his cross to and through the finish line, showing us all how to surrender our life and death to God’s will and not ours. Courage, surrender & perseverance. He was born June 7, 1932.
Da was a very giving and loving gentleman. He started young doing leather work out of his back yard on Bay Street, teaching Carpentry at Central School, then with the Town Water Department until retirement. Da served the community with 37 years on the Fire Department and for a period of time, as Captain, also he was a 4th Degree with the KOC. You could call him at any time, day or night and he would stop what he was doing and help in any way he could.
He loved laughter and his family. Going for a drive around the block on a Friday night (some treats) is a cherished memory. Camping with seven kids, huge tents, friends and relatives, falling out of the tent trailer sides, treasures that can only be lived. He loved nothing better than a great joke, treats and chocolates. His grandchildren loved Papa’s treats too. What beautiful memories for them.
He was probably singing Amazing Grace on route home...
All our love Buck!!!
Dan will be sadly missed by children, Ann-Marie Dewell, Halifax, Hector (Darlene), Donnie (Joni), Henry, of Glace Bay, Cathy MacMullin, Alberta, Danette (Maurice Larabie), Ontario; 18 cherished grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and sister, Andrea Bettens of Glace Bay.
Besides his parents, Hector & Sarah (Devison) Debison, Dan was predeceased by his loving wife, Catherine (Crowdis); daughters, Karen-Ann (8), Concillio-Marie (in infancy); brother, Frank and sister, Ronita (Burrows).
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating. A light lunch will follow in the foyer of the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
