It is with great sorrow that we announce that Heaven has gained another Angel.
Our mother Florence Macvicar, has left this earth to live in the home of our Lord in Heaven where she will join her parents, Angus and Carrie (Day) Macvicar; her beautiful granddaughter, Laura Marie; brother, Teddy and Mary; sisters, Catherine Macvicar, Frances and Jack Dixon, Isobel and Lee Moulton, Ella and Alex Chordis and Winnie and Lyle Hurd; brother-in-law, Roger Biron, sister-in-law, Darlene Macvicar as well as nieces, Caroline and Teika, and nephews, Kevin, Keats, Nelson, Edward Dixon and David Macvicar.
Mom was born May 17, 1944 and passed from this life August 24, 2018
She will be deeply missed by daughters, Cathy (Fred) Gouthro of Sydney and Carrie (Arthur) Webb Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Alyssa (Derrick Driscoll) Gouthro, Matthew Gouthro, Sydney, Krista (Corey) Macvicar-Ross, Ontario, Rema Macvicar-Ross, Ontario; great-grandchildren, Ava and Teyah Ross, Yoshi, Loanden, Jayden and the light of her life, Dechlan Driscoll; sisters, Judy Biron, Sydney, Betty (Ross) Sharples, Lake Ainsley, Helen (Bill) Martell, Ontario; brothers, Tom (Bea) Macvicar, Sydney, Carl (Karen) Macvicar, Ontario; step-grandchildren, Lee Webb (Alexis), Dumont Webb (Billie Jean), Lamarr Webb; several nieces, nephews and her dear friends.
Mom was gifted at crocheting, loved to play cards with her friends and going to bingo and karaoke, listening to Elvis and Pavarotti and of course collecting her angels.
She was quick witted and sharp tongued, and at times stubborn as a mule but kind and generous to a fault. You could always count on her to say I'll put the kettle on for tea and whatever she had, she would share with whoever needed it.
Many thanks to Cape Breton Cancer center, Palliative Care, Doctors nurses and staff of 3B & 4B Regional Hospital, Pollete's Pharmacy, VON Nurses and to the caring staff of County Homemakers for their kindness and compassion during Mom's illness.
To the many friends and neighbors who checked on her and kept her company, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Visitation for Mom will take place Tuesday, August 28 from 1-3 p.m. at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A Celebration of her Life will take place immediately following, at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate.
