RINGER, Elizabeth “Betty” Eileen - passed away, 27th August, 2018, at Saint Joseph’s Villa. Betty was an amazing woman; a kind, caring, forgiving sister, aunt, and friend; never saying a bad word of anyone, always looking for the good. She loved her Vancouver Place family, and sat many hours looking out the windows of her room across Vancouver Street remembering the days, some 81 years ago, where she grew up nearby. Betty loved pretty things, nick knacks, music, animals and antique cars. She loved jewellery, her red lipstick and a dress on Sunday, drives to the lighthouse and ice cream. Special days were always remembered with a greeting card. Betty reminisced about her special vacation to British Columbia with husband Enos, her many trips in their little camper, the places they had lived and the friends they had made. She dreamed of living by the water. Betty could never say “thank you” enough and the smallest remembrance made her happy! Betty was predeceased by her husband Enos, her mother Isabel (Davis), father Charles, sisters Joan and Helen. She leaves sisters Shirley, Hazel and Patsy, brothers Charles, Clyde, Ronnie, Richard, Paul and William, their partners, many nieces and nephews. Before her move to the Villa on July 24th, 2018, she said “I hope I live long enough to enjoy a couple of years in that beautiful place”. She asked to visit Enos’s grave in the Cedar Lake Cemetery, on his birthday August 25th, she didn’t make it then but will soon rest by his side. Learning of her passing, the response from people will likely be, “If everyone could be like Betty what a wonderful world this would be”. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium. Donations in Betty’s memory appreciated to the local VON, the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of your choice. A graveside service will take place at a later day.
