It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of William (Billy) Davis, 85, announce his passing on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
Born in Sydney Mines on May 5, 1933, he was the son of the late George Edward and Dorothy (Way) Davis.
Always a kind and gentle soul, he was loved by many. He could be seen daily, walking in his shorts, year-round. He was a fan of snowmobiles. He lived for the first snowfall, then spending time on the trails of Hunters Mountain and North River.
He loved trucks, and dressing them up. Always washing his vehicle, he could even be seen washing in the rain.
Billy was a mechanic by trade. He started his career at Lamey Motors in North Sydney, and finally retiring from Nickerson’s Fisheries, North Sydney. Since his retirement, he could be seen tinkering on all kinds of machinery in his garage.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Brian) Bragg, Sydney; son, William (Sherry Devoe) Davis, Halifax, and granddaughter, Erin Bragg. Also left to mourn are his brothers, George James Davis, Florence, and Nelson Eddie Davis, Glace Bay; sisters, Flecia Burgoyne, Sydney Mines, and Blanche (Rod) LeMoine, North Sydney; brother-in-law, William Walker; many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong family friend, Cyril Tobin.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Annette (Geddes) in 2008; sister, Donna Walker; sisters-in-law, Beryl Ferguson and Yvonne Young, and brother-in-law, Nelson Burgoyne.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Tobin Rd., Sydney Mines.
