Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s on Friday, August 31, 2018, aged 102 years. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and John Bonia; her sisters Mary (Vincent) Christopher, Elizabeth (Fabian) Power, Kathleen (Joseph) Burke, her brothers Edward (Ita), James (Marie), Peter (Gertrude). Leaving to mourn and celebrate her life are her sister-in-law Monica Bonia, her devoted and attentive nieces and nephews who were very close to her; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; great-grand nieces and great-grand-nephews and their families; other relatives, friends, students and school staff, and the Presentation Sisters. Sister Helen is resting at Presentation Motherhouse, Cathedral Square, St. John’s. Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 1st from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, September 2nd from 1:00 – 4:00, and 7:00 - 9:00, with a Vigil Service at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Monday, September 3rd at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Presentation Cemetery, Cathedral Square.
