Hilda Catherine Alchorn

Hilda Catherine Alchorn

The world lost a beautiful smile on Friday September 7, 2018 at Hospice House Fredericton when Hilda Catherine Alchorn (Power) passed away with her devoted and loving family watching over her. Hilda was a long-term resident of Oromocto and loved by many as a member of TOPS, the Oromocto Seniors Club and a proud member of the Widows on the Warpath. She loved to knit, watch Coronation Street, meeting her friends at the mall, meals with her family, her beloved kitties, and she was known to be a bit mischievous to make others laugh. Despite her illness, Hilda remained happy and hopeful always. She is survived by her children Karl Alchorn of Toronto, Glenda Alchorn, Kathy Alchorn, Laura (Dennis) Doherty of Fredericton NB; her grandchildren Paul Emile Leduc and Elise Leduc of Montreal Quebec, Sidney Phillips, Joseph Doherty, and Simon Doherty of Fredericton NB; her great grandchild Julian Patel of Montreal; her sister Roseann (Power)Boland (Foster Tibbo) of Halifax NS; her brothers Sam Power (Priscilla) of New Hampshire and Kenneth Power of Toronto and loved by all her nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband H. Sidney Alchorn, her son Joey Alchorn and her brothers Walter (Bubby) Power, John (Chook) Power, Karl (Choppy) Power, Edward (Eddie) Power. Special thanks to the many caregivers who provided loving and special care during her illness. To Dr. Sainz and staff of Hospice House Fredericton, you made her final days joyful and peaceful. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home, on Wednesday, September 12 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, September 13 at 11 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Hilda’s memory can be made to either Hospice Fredericton, or the Oromocto SPCA.
