LeBLANC, Edgar Joseph – age 94, Yarmouth, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 1, 1924 in Yarmouth, he was the son of the late Albert and Odellie (Saulnier) LeBlanc. Edgar is survived by his loving children, Carol (Gary) Crosby, Wellington and Charles (Gina) LeBlanc, Ontario, as well as by his grandchildren, Lauren, Eric and Christian. Also surviving are sisters, Shirley (Gilbert) Allen, Innisfail, AB and Phyllis LeBlanc, Dartmouth. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Esther (Cottreau) LeBlanc, as well as by brothers Lomer LeBlanc, Harold “Beaver” LeBlanc, Victor LeBlanc and sisters, Hilda Nickerson, Frances MacIntosh, Linda Surette and Anita Deveau. A hard worker all of his life, he was employed with Coca-Cola, the Yarmouth Fruit Company and as a salesman for Tri-County Wholesalers and Hudson’s Bay Co. A man of humble beginnings, he was a firm believer of helping those in need, in whatever capacity possible. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Yarmouth Fire Dept. (Salvage Corps) for 29 years, recognized by the Canadian Red Cross as a prolific blood donor and a supporter of many local charities. As a young man he was an avid outdoorsman. The home he shared with his beloved wife Esther for 59 years was always filled with the music he loved. Many will recall seeing him on his early morning walks, in every season, which continued until he was 90. Dad found joy in the smallest of things – ocean views, hot sunny days, visiting local stores and conversation. He was a man of strong, quiet faith. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and legendary sense of humour. In retirement, he took pleasure in maintaining his beautiful property and great pride in his family and the accomplishments of his grandchildren. Although confined to a wheelchair throughout the last year of his life, complaining was not his nature. He was grateful to all who stopped in for a visit. Dad valued honesty, integrity, hard work and always doing one’s best. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is profoundly missed. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 5 from Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Inurnment will take place in the columbarium at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Donations in memory of Edgar may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or to a charity of choice.
