It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gilbert Stanley Hellier announce his passing on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 89 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Darlene Hellier (Allan), Fred, Enid Hellier (Robert) and Don; special friend Mildred Lockyer and family; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Phyllis and Rea Hellier; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Melvina, parents Herbert and Hilda, sister Joy Wiseman, brothers Baxter and Robert and grandson Steven McKenzie. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Friday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6 at 2 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Pastor Alice Moores officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
