Lindsay Merritt Dykens - age 78, of Kentville, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Haggerty) Dykens. In his younger years, Lindsay was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was later employed as a salesman with various companies including vacuum sales, insurance and Fuller Brush. Lindsay was also a member of Valley Search and Rescue and the Royal Canadian Legion Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He is survived by his wife, Jantje “Jannie” (Plaggenhoef); daughters, Ann Marie Dykens, Greenwich; Theresa Dykens, Kentville; four grandchildren, Lindsay and Chyanne-Marie Griffin; MarieKa and Jaden Redden; a sister, Julia Foster (Leroy Schofield), New Minas; a special chosen daughter, Myrna Harnum; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Perry Dykens. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service, by request. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital or charity of one’s choice.
