It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom, grandmother, aunt and sister, Frances Marie Basque, surrounded by her loving family and friends at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck, N.S.
Born in Wagmatcook, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Mary Rose (Pierro) Basque.
Marie was a caring, kind and classy lady who would comfort you in need and always had kind words of wisdom. Marie loved music, karaoke, TV bingo and especially looking out for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church, now known as the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha parish in Wagmatcook. She was well known for her baking, cooking and family gatherings and always had many visitors to drop in for some tea.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Jo Peck-Isadore, Priscilla (Isadore) Googoo and Fallon Isadore, all of Wagmatcook; her son, Travis Isadore (Amanda), Paqtnkek; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one godchild, Anthony Peck; numerous nieces and nephews and one surviving aunt, Christina Aucoin of Sydney River. Also left in mourning are her siblings, sisters, Bridget (Frederick), Brenda, Sophie; brothers, Charles, Samuel, Wilfred, Michael, Carl, all of Wagmatcook, Brian of Ottawa, Ont.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Isadore, two children, Gloria and Daryl grandchildren, Vanessa, Nilan and Cyndi Joy Peck, two brothers, Frederick and Simon Jr., two sisters, Janey and Christy Ann (Freeman Francis) and most recent her son-in-law, Alex R. Googoo.
The wake will begin at 2 p.m. May 28 at Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Center. The funeral will be held Monday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at The Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Church with Fr. Robert MacNeil officiating. Burial will be at the Queen of the World Cemetery. After the service, a feast and salit'e will followed at the Wagmatcook Culture Center.
On behalf of Marie's children, we would like to thank the staff at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Dr. Genge, Dr. Chow and Dr. Ritter. Special thanks to Mary C. Pierro, Angela Pierro, Allison Peck, Anna K. Pierro and Scott Noble, all were there for Marie. Extended thanks to the Wagmatcook Health Center who provided care prior to Marie's illness.
