Peacefully at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Sunday, November 18, 2018, of John Walter “Merrill” Simpson of Winsloe, age 87 years. Beloved husband of Hilda (nee Jones-Acorn). Dear father of Barb MacKenzie (Dave) and Darlene Currie (Stephen). Loving grandfather of Craig MacKenzie (Lindsay), Darryl MacKenzie (Bri), Tara Currie (Matt), Erin Currie (Dan), Jamie Currie (Hailee). Great grandfather to Claire, Miles, Henry, Hudson and Breton. Stepfather of Rob Acorn (Carolyn) and Step grandfather of Sophie and Isabel. Brother of Lois Crossman (Alden Deceased), Norman (Linda), Maynard (Audrey) and brother-in-law of Joan Simpson. Uncle to special nieces Shelly, Kathy and several other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Cecil and Leona (MacLure) Simpson, brother Vernon, sister Ruth Zeeben and infant sister Miriam. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home with visitation Wednesday, November 21 from 4-7 pm. Funeral Thursday at Winsloe United Church at 10:30 am. Interment will take place later in Sherwood Cemetery.
